Fabulously pink dress thrifted at
Toe Jam Car Boot Sale

Grey cardi-top found at Oxfam on George's Street,
Dublin ... I like it so much I got one in black and a stripy green one
too!

What sold me on this top was the lovely cut out details

Yet more grey! This I got to wear around the house.

As you can see yesterday was a very fruitful thrifting day!
I'm afraid my post on Project 94 will have to wait a few more
days ... I'm off to the sea side tomorrow!

Thrifted Plates

It's only recently that I started thrifting household items, previously
limiting myself to clothes and accessories.
my first two finds in that department are these lovely
plates which proudly sit on my dresser as jewellery
displays, I particularly like the green and grey one [next picture],
of which I have two, I think it's the delicate flower print that
attracted me, and I love the way the green pigment was applied in a splodge
and not all neat and in the lines, lovely!

Mystery...

This necklace is a real mystery,
I found it a while ago in a charity shop
for 5 Euros, I would like to know
where it is from as it is quite
an original design ...

I don't actually wear it, its way too big, I hung it
on my bedroom wall, my friend Bernie wore it for
Halloween last year when she was dressed as Cleopatra,
she looked the part!

Goodies Galore

Good thrifting day today!
Well deserved, me thinks, since I was at the dentist after a
week-end of pain and puffiness, I resembled the Elephant Woman [and still do,
at the moment!] ... can u get stretch marks on your face? I wonder ...

I'm looking forward to reading it in English!

The Start Of A Collection?

Without even realising it I guess I started collecting vintage pattern books, most of
them I found in the fantastic Oxfam Bookshop in Parliament Street, Dublin
I love them not only for the inspiration they give me, but also for the fonts:

Well ... I'm not sure I could knit that blanket without looking
my knitting is still wobbly and I'm not practicing as much
as I should ... me bad!

I love the design of the crocheted blanket, I think it would
look lovely on a dress or a bag ... what do you think?

The Complete Book Of Handicrafts is my favourite, full of fun
stuff to do ... knitting, crochet, toy making

Beautiful Tulip Motif Embroidery!

At the back of the book there are these wonderfully colourful
pages!

I don't really have any intention of making children clothes, but couldn't
resist the colourful cover, the illustration is so cute!

Yes, Pockets are important ... not only for children!

This book was first published in 1964, it is really comprehensive, covering
everything from dressmaking, tailoring, mending to soft
furnishing.
The Illustrations are lovely!

"Personal Analysis
Like the beauty of a work of art, which is dependent
upon an artist's ability to create pleasing line composition
and use colour attractively, fashion perfection is
also achieved by correct application
of line and colour.
However, in the case of a fashion design,
you are the canvas.
And you are a great deal more complex

Holiday Wardrobe

It took me a while to sort out all the pictures from my short break in Italy, we are slow at embracing the digital age in my house, my boyfriend is still busy scanning all the slides he took during the week! I will invest in a digital camera I swear!!!
We spent most of the week in Iseo, my hometown, were my mum runs a lovely B&B, mostly we strolled around, had lots of lovely food, and generally chilled out!
We managed to spend a day in Venice, it was fantastic going with my boyfriend who'd never been and seeing his reaction to the wonderful architecture and the magic of this city!

Walking In Your Shoes...

Some people, I'm sure, feel a bit hickey about buying second hand shoes, but I don't have such qualms, if the shoes are clean and in good conditions, I don't see why not! I have an ever growing collection of shoes that I trhifted, mostly in Dublin.
I confess that I'm sometimes guilty of even buying shoes that don't fit me just because I like them so much! Which totally contradicts the statement I made in my previous post about curbing my trifting habit!


Pink sandals, a gift from my sister [she's the real shoe addict in the family, I am an amateur in comparison!]. Red and Pink, I love the colour combination!

Vases and Bottles

More shots of my thrifty finds, these have been with me for a while, I have added new items to my collection of glass bottles, plates and cups, I need to slow down with the thrifting because I don't have much space left in the house, I just can't help it! I love the trill of finding something unique, I got better thought, I used to buy lots of clothes just 'cause they where cheap and ended up with things I would never wear, now I try to limit myself to very special items.



More thrifty finds, the round glass vase has by now been transformed into a lamp ... pictures to follow sometimes soon, I don't have a digital camera at the moment so I can only take pictures when charitable friends lend me theirs!
