Refashionista

Sonia Luna-Wardrobe Refashion

There, I've done it ... I went and took the pledge on Wardrobe Refashion, you know what this means? It means two whole months without buying any clothes, I will have to make my own, either from scratch or by refashioning old clothes ...
Thing is, I do have a mountain of clothes that I thrifted intending
to cut up and sew so, if anything, I will have some space back at the
end of this experiment!
I'm not a fool, I know myself ... I've only signed up for the minimum
time possible ... I wonder how many people take the pledge for life,
fairplay to them, but I suffer from withdrawal symptoms already
just thinking about the two months ahead of me.
Wish me luck and stay tuned for some DIY
or, worst case scenario, some fashion disasters!

Purple Footsteps

Last week I got unexpected time off work, isn't the recession great, it won't be that great when pay day arrives! I took advantage of the spare time to re-visit Techno Threads, an exhibition at the Science Gallery [more on that in my next post], I decided to christen my lovely purply shoes I adore them!

In the gutter but looking at the stars?

Dress-Up

I'm sure that all of you have had the experience of opening
your wardrobe stuffed full of clothes and still
not finding anything to wear ... it sure happens to me, it's just that
I get bored of the usual combinations I muster up:
the blue top with that skirt, and always the blue top, I'm in
need to shake things up!
My closet is full and I promised myself I wouldn't buy things
I don't need, so I decided to tackle
and document all my clothes and outfits combinations
and experiment a little!
I found this stripy pink and red top at the
back of the wardrobe, I haven't worn it in such a
long time! I had great fun playing dress up and
here are three different combinations :

Oh La La, So French!

Stripy top with:
Waistcoat: Thrifted
Levis Jeans: Thrifted
Ballet Flats: Pennies

For some reason I felt French in this outfit ...

Rockin and a Rolling!

Stripy Top with:
Short Sleeved Cardi: Thrifted [Oxfam]
Black Skinny Jeans: Pennies

Pink High Heel Shoes: Thrifted

Edit: I forgot to write that I wanted to just wear
the top with the skinny jeans but it turned out a
bit too nippletastic for me to have
the courage to actually go out in it ... so here
comes the little black cardi to preserve my modesty!

Romantique:

Stripy Top with:
Green Skirt: Thrifted
Pink
Thights: Top Shop

Green High Heel Shoes: Dunnes

Another good thing is that I finally learnt a thing or two
on photoshop, instead of just
looking at the open files in
despair!

While sorting out my closet I realised that I have started
another collection without noticing ... I have quite a few
silk scarves! I started wearing them when I was growing my hair a year ago,
I found it was the best way to keep it in place during the awkward middle
stage ... I don't wear them as much now, but I love looking at
the lovely prints!

I got most of them from Maharani, a lovely stall in the
George's Street Arcade in Dublin,
every time I pass by I can't help myself ... I have to buy one ... a little treat at only
2 Euros!

The green one above is one of my favourites, the vivid green
and the bright pink flowers are just great!

The collection doesn't end here ... you can have a look at the
rest at my flickr page.

My First Remix!

I signed up to the wonderful wardrobe remix
on flickr a while ago, but till today I've just been lurking
about ... now I finally posted a picture, I love this dress, especially the stripy detail at the hem.

Holiday Wardrobe

It took me a while to sort out all the pictures from my short break in Italy, we are slow at embracing the digital age in my house, my boyfriend is still busy scanning all the slides he took during the week! I will invest in a digital camera I swear!!!
We spent most of the week in Iseo, my hometown, were my mum runs a lovely B&B, mostly we strolled around, had lots of lovely food, and generally chilled out!
We managed to spend a day in Venice, it was fantastic going with my boyfriend who'd never been and seeing his reaction to the wonderful architecture and the magic of this city!

Little Dog chilling in Venice ... too cute!!!

This Graffiti on a wall in Venice made me smile!

I wonder if the directions are right!

Walking In Your Shoes...

Some people, I'm sure, feel a bit hickey about buying second hand shoes, but I don't have such qualms, if the shoes are clean and in good conditions, I don't see why not! I have an ever growing collection of shoes that I trhifted, mostly in Dublin.
I confess that I'm sometimes guilty of even buying shoes that don't fit me just because I like them so much! Which totally contradicts the statement I made in my previous post about curbing my trifting habit!

Pink sandals, a gift from my sister [she's the real shoe addict in the family, I am an amateur in comparison!]. Red and Pink, I love the colour combination!

Platform Sandals, found in Oxfam, George's Street, Dublin. Polka Dots Sandals, made in Japan, found in Dublin, Oxfam, George's Street

Grey Platform Sandals. Purple Suede Shoes with chunky heels, both thrifted on Capel Street, Dublin.
