Purple Footsteps

Last week I got unexpected time off work, isn't the recession great, it won't be that great when pay day arrives! I took advantage of the spare time to re-visit Techno Threads, an exhibition at the Science Gallery [more on that in my next post], I decided to christen my lovely purply shoes I adore them!

In the gutter but looking at the stars?

Asbestos

Lost Q: Quizotic without the Q, what the fuck does that mean? Nothing that's what. So find my Q and mail to lost@theartofasbestos.com

I'm always chuffed when I come across an
Asbestos lost series sticker while
on a walk around town, this time I had
a camera!

Easy Peasy Recepy

This is a very simple and delicious thing to do with strawberries :
Cut them Up
Squeeze some Lemon on Top
Put Sugar All Over

[lemon & sugar to taste, I find half a lemon and a spoonful of sugar suffices for two punnets of strawberries]

Mix It All Up
Stick the all thing in the fridge for an hour or so,
serve over vanilla ice-cream or
just on their own.
Yummy!

On The Shelf

In a small corner of my kitchen:

I found these little salt'n'pepper shakers on a thrifting venture,
the beaks are chipped and
I could attempt a patch up job with some yellow gloss...
but the small imperfection is what endeared them
to me.

I steal bubbles from the hands of small children, anything under 5, after that they become too strong and they grip the bottle too tight ... only messing, probably a pound shop buy, can't rightly remember. The simulated flavour Jell-O Lime Jelly ... a classic! A friend gave me this as a souvenir from Canada, and it sits, unopened, on the shelf and it will remain unopened, given the fact that it's probably well past its sell by date and that I hate jelly ... and lime! Also, I couldn't possibly open it and ruin the lovely package. I tried to pin-point the date of the packaging, from my research I reckon is sometimes in the fifties or sixties [there you go, pin-pointed with great accuracy!] ... a lady who might know is Liza Cowan at See Saw, an artist and collector of Jell-O ephemera.

Ghostly Encounters

Ruby
***
A digital photo montage print featuring Ruby
the small, apple-headed child accompanied by her two raven protectors.

Art&Ghosts as long been on my blog roll and I just
realized that I've never posted about Louise's fabulous illustrations
so I'm going to remedy this oversight right now!

Dauphine
***
A digitally collaged/illustrated print featuring little Dauphine.

Dauphine is Aquarius.
She is a hugely sensitive little thing, with a deep love of poetry.

Surreal, whimsical and eerie are words that come to
my mind when I see these fairytale like images,
the good news is they are all available in her
Etsy shop!

When Wishes Explode
***
A digital reproduction photographic image
of an indistinct female figure with wayward braids
successfully making wishes explode.

Tea Set

More Good News! Louise opened a new
Etsy shop called little ghost
where she sells her non-manipulated work.

Beachball

And more Art&Ghosts goodness:
The Wonder Cabinet
an inspirational blog that I just started
to delve into!

Dress-Up

I'm sure that all of you have had the experience of opening
your wardrobe stuffed full of clothes and still
not finding anything to wear ... it sure happens to me, it's just that
I get bored of the usual combinations I muster up:
the blue top with that skirt, and always the blue top, I'm in
need to shake things up!
My closet is full and I promised myself I wouldn't buy things
I don't need, so I decided to tackle
and document all my clothes and outfits combinations
and experiment a little!
I found this stripy pink and red top at the
back of the wardrobe, I haven't worn it in such a
long time! I had great fun playing dress up and
here are three different combinations :

Oh La La, So French!

Stripy top with:
Waistcoat: Thrifted
Levis Jeans: Thrifted
Ballet Flats: Pennies

For some reason I felt French in this outfit ...

Rockin and a Rolling!

Stripy Top with:
Short Sleeved Cardi: Thrifted [Oxfam]
Black Skinny Jeans: Pennies

Pink High Heel Shoes: Thrifted

Edit: I forgot to write that I wanted to just wear
the top with the skinny jeans but it turned out a
bit too nippletastic for me to have
the courage to actually go out in it ... so here
comes the little black cardi to preserve my modesty!

Romantique:

Stripy Top with:
Green Skirt: Thrifted
Pink
Thights: Top Shop

Green High Heel Shoes: Dunnes

Another good thing is that I finally learnt a thing or two
on photoshop, instead of just
looking at the open files in
despair!
